DoomJar itself
Help us build a better app and fight doom-scrolling for everyone.
For charities and partners, 30% covers payment processing and keeps DoomJar running.
Losing something hurts about twice as much as gaining it.
That's loss aversion, one of the best-documented findings in behavioral economics. Commitment devices like Beeminder and stickK have used it for years to help people keep goals.
DoomJar is the first one built just for doom-scrolling. It watches your screen time for you, so there's nothing to log and nothing to fudge. All you have to do is protect your cookies.
Tough on scrolling. Fair to you.
DoomJar only charges what you set, and only after youβve said yes twice.
Double opt-in
Penalties only start after you confirm by email and in the app.
24-hour cooling-off
Nothing is charged for a full day after you turn penalties on.
Daily and monthly caps
You set your own caps. No day can ever cost more than $50.
Pause any time
The pause button is always one tap away in Settings.

Questions, answered
Can I win money with DoomJar?
No. DoomJar is a one-way commitment device. Cookies only ever leave your jar, to the charity, friend or cause you chose. Streak rewards are golden cookies, which are cosmetic and have no cash value.
What does the free plan include?
Track up to 3 apps or sites with daily limits, earn and lose points-only cookies, see your weekly summary, and join the leaderboard. No card required and no real charges.
How much can a bad day cost me?
Exactly what you configured, never more. You choose the penalty per slip and your own daily and monthly caps, and there is a hard ceiling of $50 per day.
Where does the money from my jar go?
Wherever you choose: a charity, your accountability partner, or DoomJar. For charities and partners, 70% reaches them and 30% covers payment processing and keeps DoomJar running. We show this before you pick.
Can I stop penalties?
Yes. Pause penalties any time from Settings, or cancel your plan. If you change your mind in the first 7 days, we refund you.
Which devices does it work on?
DoomJar works today on the web and in Chrome. Apps for iPhone, Android and Mac are on the way.
